SHORT STORIES
The Flash
By: Italo Calvino
The Flash, a story of a man who approaches a crossroad and a split-second decision to change his life. As he arrives looking around he decides to question the "normal" and is never looked at the same. The theme of The Flash is about making choices, this short story can show just how important each and every decision is in a few short lines. The one decision the man in the story makes should be a harmless decision but will change his appearance forever, to an outsider. We can relate this to our current world as this is the same thing that happens to many people because of social media. One post that they decided to press send on or publish and they will be remembered forever by everyone. One push of a button changes their online footprint and can cost them jobs in the future, all because of 1 second of the thousands we live throughout each day. I decided to create a photo essay based on this story as I believe it sends a strong message in the few short but powerful lines it beholds.

How Fast Life Can Change
Here is a short youtube clip of how fast social media can lose you your job. Some employers go over how they sort out future employees and how when they can see one inappropriate post that it could cost someone their interview. This shows just how important it is to think over everything and ensure that one quick decision doesn't cost you a chance at a job.
